How to Find the Right Auto Body Shop

How to Find the Right Auto Body ShopNeed body repairs for your automobile?  Don't know which auto body shop to turn to?  It is so important to choose the right auto body repair shop to fix your vehicle.  Estimates can vary widely from one shop to the next.  Also, body shops differ in the way they perform repair procedures.  Going the cheaper route isn't the best solution because so much goes into body repairs.  For example, is the shop going to use aftermarket parts or cheaper paint?  Is there some sort of warranty?
At Charlottesville Collision Repair, we take the time to thoroughly explain the entire process and give you a full estimate before we begin any repairs.  This way, you will know what to expect and there are no surprises along the way.
Here are some tips to guide you along as you decide which auto body shop to use for your vehicle repairs.
  1. Talk to your family and friends.  Chances are, you have a family member or friend who needed body repair done recently or in the past.  Which body shop did they have a good experience with?  How much did it cost?  How was the service?
  2. Do your research.  It's important to know what types of services the body shop has.  For instance, do they offer the latest repair and paint technology?  Do they have the infrastructure to handle the repairs you desire?  Maybe you don't need a major repair, so are they able to do a quick fix that won't break the bank?  Pay attention to the cost of labor.  How much are they charging per hour?
  3. Get more than one estimate.  Just like you would shop around for anything else, obtain a few estimates to get a good idea of how much a specific repair would cost.  Because body shops vary in pricing, find out how much the entire repair would cost, what exactly will be done, and how long it will take.
  4. Trust your gut.  Always trust your instincts when finally deciding on the auto body shop.  After all, it is your vehicle that is being repaired and the final decision is yours.  If you feel that something just doesn't sit right with you, go with the collision repair shop that you know and trust.  Pay attention to how the service people treat you and their customers.  If you are treated with respect, chances are they will treat your automobile well too.
