Choose Your Computer Repair Technician Wisely

Choose Your Computer Repair Technician WiselyWhen it comes to choosing a computer repair technician, there are a few important factors to consider. First, you need to determine the technician’s level of expertise. Do they actually have an IT degree or relevant computer repair certifications? Secondly, you need to evaluate their cost-benefit ratio. In other words, how does their price point relate to their skills?
There are two primary skill levels of computer repair, basic and advanced. Basic computer repair is generally software related. Some examples are scanning a computer for malware, restoring a computer to factory specifications, defragging the hard drive, and various other seamless operations. Advanced computer repair however involves replacing hardware components such as motherboards, memory (RAM), and processors. Some software operations also fall under the advanced category such as disk formatting, clean operating system installs, registry editing, and so forth.

While any computer literate person is able to perform basic level tasks, it takes advanced training, technical skills, and computer know-how to perform more difficult computer repair. Believe it or not, many ‘big-box’ store computer repair departments often primarily consist of basic level technicians. In fact, before most of my formal training including college and certifications, I was already deemed ‘over qualified’. I was blown away. Especially considering the fact they charge about $125.00 per hour.

The truth is, if you want quality computer repair, you need to look at locally owned service providers with authentic credentials. PC Faction technicians for example are about as qualified as you can get and charge only about half of what most of their competitors charge. They are able to charge less because of the speed at which they are able to diagnose and repair systems. It is simply a process of multiplication. The better the prices, the more clients they are able to support.
